Life moves slowly in the mountains
On mountain time
Living by a clock with no hands
Or no clock at all
It becomes a slow-moving day in the higher elevation
Slower as you move up the mountain
Where projects get done when they get done
The body naturally relaxes and automatically transitions
Men grow beards and let their hair grow long
Levi’s and mountain boots are in
Mountain boots are worn all the time, even to bed
Some mountain people never take their boots off at all
Whatever you wear or don’t wear is in style
Dogs practice nightly and are known far and wide as neighborhood barking quartets
Everyone is on their own time
It’s the law of the mountains
It’s the mountain way
I haven’t become a mountain woman in every sense of the word
I do love being retired in the mountains
